Pompton Lakes High School will be ready for the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing thanks to two students who graduated this year.

Former students Nick Secor and Andrew Sails created a sculpture of an astronaut in art class. The sculpture is of astronaut Alan Bean. Bean was not part of the Apollo 11 mission – he was the fourth person to walk on the moon during the Apollo 12 mission.

The students made the sculpture as a tribute to Bean and all the US moon missions.

Glen Ridge native Buzz Aldrin was a part of the Apollo 11 mission. He, along with astronaut Neil Armstrong, was one of the first two humans to walk on the Moon.

Aldrin will be participating in the 50th-anniversary celebration at the Reagan Library in California.
