Residents across the Garden State braved the bitter cold Monday.
Temperatures were in the middle and upper 20s, but the winds made it feel like the teens. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall back into the single digits with winds likely to make it feel like it?s below zero.
New Jersey residents who ventured out into the cold made sure to bundle up. They are also being reminded to dress in layers so they don't get hypothermia. Residents are also being told to drink plenty of fluids, but to avoid alcohol since it can accelerate the loss of body heat.
Experts say indoor temperatures should be at least 68 degrees due to the frigid temperatures.
Meanwhile, it?s not just people suffering at the hands of Mother Nature. AAA reports a 25 percent spike in calls due to the cold temperatures. Experts say car batteries tend to act up on bitter cold days. AAA recommends changing car batteries every four years to prevent breakdowns in the cold.Related information:News 12 New Jersey Weather Center
