A Morris County man is making New Jersey proud by helping to honor some of New Jersey’s first residents.
Don Kiddo helps maintain the Whippany Burying Yard – one of the oldest cemeteries in New Jersey. About 400 people are buried there – people who died over 300 years ago.
Kiddo helps to make sure that the gravestones are kept clean and to help them stay vertical. He often does it dressed in clothing from the 1700s.
“Like a picture is worth a thousand words, a costumed interpreter is more effective in delivering a message,” he says.
Kiddo knows the history of all the people interned in the cemetery and helps keep their stories alive, centuries later.
