New Jersey Congressman Rodney Frelinghysen chased down a man who robbed him Thursday night, police say.
According to police, 61-year-old Frelinghysen was walking in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C. when his wallet was taken by a pickpocket. Authorities say Frelinghysen felt his wallet being stolen, chased the thief and held him down as police drove by.
Many say Frelinghysen, who represents the 11th District, did a brave thing. But despite his bravery, police urge people to avoid confronting their attackers.
Meanwhile, the congressman?s press secretary said, ?The suspect was apprehended and the congressman wants to commend the Metropolitan Police Department for their quick and professional response.?
Frelinghysen?s wife would not comment on the incident, but did say her husband was not injured.
