A New Jersey company believes its product can help combat the gas crisis.

Peter Kulish, inventor of the Vortex Fuel Saver, believes his product can boost fuel usage by upwards of 25 percent. According to Kulish, Vortex uses magnets to burn fuel more efficiently.

"Magnetism is the glue that holds everything in the universe together," says Kulish.

According to Kulish, the product will also lower vehicles' emissions to almost 0.

The concept of using magnets to increase fuel efficiency has been around for decades, but results have been minimal and unreliable. Lou Elwell, the company's president, says Vortex Fuel Saver is a breakthrough.

"When Edison was trying to invent the light bulb, he did not succeed the first 15-hundred attempts," says Elwell. "That doesn't mean that 1,501 doesn't succeed. What we have today is actually working."

Larry LoSchiavo, manager of Quality Auto Center in Bloomfield, says he gets up to five miles more per gallon since installing the system.

"If people weren't open to new technologies, we'd still be driving around in horses and buggies," says LoSchiavo.

Vortex Fuel Saver costs $400 to have installed. News 12 New Jersey has had the system installed under the hood of a Chevy Equinox and will pass on the product's results.

Vortex Fuel Saver
