Young boy saves the life of family friend in Clifton

CLIFTON - Manuel Martinez, 11, is being hailed as a hero after he saved a 34-year-old family friend from drowning in his family's pool in Clifton on Saturday.

Martinez says the man tripped on the pool's vinyl liner into the deep end and he rushed into action, grabbing a rope to save him.

"I threw it at him two times," said Martinez. "The first time it broke and the second time he grabbed it and I pulled him in."

As soon as others found out what happened they called 911 and the man was taken to the hospital where he was checked out and is reported to be fine.
