TRENTON - Trenton's public swimming pools will open this summer with the help of some local lifeguards.

Last year, the city struggled to find the money to run them, but this year the city's pools will be operated by the Trenton YMCA. The organization is asking local teens to apply.

An estimated 10,000 people cooled off in Trenton's public pools in 2013.

The pools are free to Trenton residents.

The pool at the YMCA will be open next week, but the Y plans to open the rest of the city's pools on July 4.
