EAST RUTHERFORD - This Thanksgiving, commuters and drivers in New Jersey could be thankful that an eyesore along the New Jersey Turnpike could be getting a long-awaited facelift.
The last chance came a week ago for the public to comment on a proposal to allow developers to finish the project formerly known as Xanadu at the Meadowlands.
"Visitors can expect to see and experience something that will be new for everyone to experience on the East Coast," says Jill Renslow, of Triple 5 Development, the developers of the Mall of America in Minnesota.
Local unions have voiced support for the American Dream Meadowlands project and stacked recent public hearings. The project would eliminate some wetlands, which has caused concern among environmental groups. Some critics are also worried about parking and transportation issues.
