Pascrell says the award given today is nearly seven decades overdue. "Due to, main reason, a clerical error," he says. "It was corrected by the U.S. Army Board of Appeal."
La Puzz was born in Paterson and served with the 363rd Infantry Regiment in the European Theater during World War II.
The Purple Heart was established when George Washington was commander in chief.
