Wrestling coach dismissed following child pornography charges

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - A popular coach has been dismissed from his job as a wrestling coach for Washington Township's recreational league. Nelson Fernandez, 39, of Washington Township, has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Police Chief Randy Ciocco says the charges were filed by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office since that's where most of the child porn activity was. Ciocco says his detectives in Washington Township are investigating because Fernandez had close contact with young boys.

As a part of the father of three's bail provision, he is not allowed to be with children under 16.
