WILDWOOD - A wounded war veteran says he was kicked off the North Wildwood boardwalk and issued a summons because of his service dog, named Navigator.

Jared Goering and his wife have been visiting from Tampa and said they were on their way to dinner on Thursday night when they were stopped by police on the North Wildwood Boardwalk.

"They said that my dog wasn't a seeing-eye dog, and that only seeing-eye dogs are allowed on the boardwalk," says Goering.

The couple tried to explain that the dog is covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act, which allows "Gator" to go everywhere Jared goes.

Wildwood's police chief looked into the matter, and while he says there's more to the story, he declined to comment on the incident.

The summons has been dismissed.
