MONTCLAIR - The would-be medical marijuana dispensary Greenleaf Compassion Center in Montclair says that New Jersey is full of broken promises.
Joseph Stevens, the CEO of the center, wrote a letter dated earlier this week to Gov. Chris Christie complaining that Greenleaf has incurred hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses waiting for a state permit.
Stevens doesn't blame the governor himself, but says "The only logical answer that remains is that persons within the administration are intentionally delaying the program."
Today, the governor's office referred all questions to the Department of Health & Senior Services. A spokeswoman there says Stevens' letter contains inaccuracies and outright falsehoods.
The spokeswoman says Greenleaf's application is pending while the state awaits more information. Greenleaf's partners say they've already sent the information. The CEO says he's considering all options, including legal action.
