Worker killed in construction accident on NJTP

BORDENTOWN - (AP) - An accident has claimed the life of a worker at a construction site on the New Jersey Turnpike.

New Jersey State Police say 51-year-old Carmen DiLuzio ofWilmington, Del., was killed Monday morning when a concrete barrierweighing more than a ton toppled off a flatbed trailer.

State police spokesman Stephen Jones said the accident occurredshortly before 8 a.m. at a turnpike widening construction site nearExit 7 in Bordentown.

DiLuzio was a driver for Tipton Trucking Co. of Oxford, Pa.

Jones said DiLuzio had parked his truck and was loosening strapsthat secured the barrier on the trailer when it fell off andcrushed him. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:19 a.m.

State police and federal work safety officials are investigatingthe accident.
