WOODLAND PARK - Authorities say a Woodland Park doctor and his brother were living large and letting taxpayers pick up the tab.

According to the Union County Prosecutor's Office, Dr. Amgad Hessien and his business manager brother, Ashraf Sami, allegedly scammed Medicare and private insurers out of millions of dollars.

Authorities say their lavish lifestyle included a beach-front home in Belmar worth an estimated $1.6 million and expensive cars.

Hessein and Sami were taken into custody yesterday and charged with insurance fraud and conspiracy. The brothers are being held in Union County jail.
