NEWARK - A woman is listed in critical condition after she was hit by a turning New Jersey Transit bus on Saturday while crossing the street in Newark.

It happened just before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Mount Prospect Avenue and Heller Parkway.

Authorities say the woman is likely to lose both of her legs.

The incident is prompting some residents to wonder about safety at the intersection. They say bike lanes, heavy traffic, high speeds and tight turns create a dangerous scenario.
