SOUTH ORANGE - A woman was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train Monday evening while trying to cross the tracks in South Orange.

The Morris and Essex line train No. 430 was headed to Hoboken when the woman was fatally struck. New Jersey Transit police are investigating.

Service was suspended for a time,

The identity of the woman was not immediately released. No passengers were injured.
