Woman stabbed at Middletown Bed Bath & Beyond

MIDDLETOWN - A woman shopping with her small child was stabbed in the back more than a dozen times at a Bed Bath & Beyond in Middletown.

Police responded to multiple 911 calls at around 4:19 Thursday afternoon that a person had been stabbed inside the store.

The 29-year-old Keansburg woman was shopping with her small child when the incident occurred.

According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, police arrested 19-year-old Tyrik Haynes in connection with the crime.

Police say the woman was conscious when she was brought to Jersey Shore Medical Center. She remains in critical but stable condition.

The child is with relatives.

Haynes has been charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses, according to the prosecutor's office.
