Woman dead in 2-alarm Teaneck blaze

TEANECK - The death of a woman in a Teaneck home is now being investigated as a homicide by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

The body of Joan Davis was found in a bedroom in her home after a two-alarm fire ripped through the house at the corner of Alpine Drive and Minell Place. Officials say the fire broke out around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night.

The Bergen County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled her death a homicide. Teaneck Police say that since the victim's body was so badly burned, a positive identification of the body found in the house has not yet been made.
