SEASIDE PARK - Witnesses at the scene of a blazing inferno that devastated four blocks of businesses along the Seaside Park boardwalk are in complete shock.

One woman who was working inside Kohr's Ice Cream on Thursday says she noticed grey smoke rising from underneath the boardwalk. She said the smoke quickly turned black as she was evacuating the area, and that the ice cream parlor and an adjacent candy shop then burst into flames.

Residents say they still can't believe the severity of the devastation, especially since many of the businesses were damaged by Sandy last October.

Firefighters were called to the scene at around 2:30 p.m. to combat the fire, which was gradually contained throughout the evening.
