LONG BRANCH - The large blades of the iconic WindMill restaurant in Long Branch fell off and repairs will be needed.

The collapse happened around 9 p.m. Monday while the restaurant was open for business. The collapse was caught on the WindMill’s surveillance system.

WindMill was open for business Tuesday. High winds are suspected for the reason of the collapse. People in the area tell News 12 New Jersey that winds in the area Monday night were blowing at about 30 mph.

WindMill owner Steven Levine says that it will take about a week to repair the blades. In the meantime, he's inviting customers to come and take selfies with the blades.

"Come on down, take a picture and enjoy yourself," he says.

The windmill blades were only up for a month. They were installed to replace the old ones on the decades-old windmill.
