ATLANTIC CITY - The Trump Plaza Hotel has joined a growing list of Atlantic City casinos expected to close in the coming months.

State Senator Jim Whelan tells News 12 New Jersey that The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino may close in September and employees are expected to receive WARN letters next week.

He said he heard of the closure from "multiple sources" that he believes to be "credible."

The news comes less than a month after it was announced the Showboat casino would be closing in the end of August.

Revel's owners have also said the hotel would close if a buyer for the struggling property is not found.
