WOODBRIDGE - Parents took advantage of the nasty weather today, and took to the malls for back-to-school shopping.

School starts in New Jersey for millions of students over the next few weeks, and many families got in their last-minute shopping Monday.

The Black family, whose daughter is about to start preschool, spent the day at the Woodbridge Center Mall gathering some last minute items. "It was raining, so we decided to come to the mall. Not going to be cooking out in this weather," said Bob Black.

Shoppers took advantage of holiday weekend sales and store owners say backpacks and other items were flying off the shelves.

Edison Township, Westfield, and Cherry Hill are among the school districts that start the 2013-2014 school year on Tuesday.
