NEWARK - A West New York resident who pleaded guilty to conspiring to aid the Islamic State group has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Alaa Saadeh faced a Newark federal judge Tuesday afternoon. He faced up to 20 years in prison.

Saadeh, his brother and two other men pleaded guilty last October for conspiring to help the terrorist group.

Saadeh admitted that he planned to join the Islamic State and talked about those plans with his brother and the other men. He also admitted to giving his brother a credit card to buy a plane ticket to the Middle East so he could also join the group.
