MANALAPAN - Manalapan police are looking for a woman who they say stole items from a Wegmans and then tried to run down a security officer with her car.

According to police, the woman was caught on surveillance camera stealing items from the store and putting them in her bag.

A loss prevention officer saw the theft and followed the woman outside the store.  The woman then got into a light-colored minivan with Pennsylvania plates and tried to run over the officer when he tried to stop her. The license plates have a partial number of JHF.

He was struck by her car and landed on top of the hood.  He suffered minor injuries and was back at work the next day.

Wegmans’ corporate office did not have any comment and referred News 12 New Jersey to the police department.

The woman could face robbery and assault charges. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Manalapan police at 732-446-4300.
