EDISON - Increasing clouds and chilly temperatures are expected across the Garden State overnight.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist Michelle Powers says wintry precipitation is expected to make its way into the area Saturday morning bringing as much as 2 to 4 inches of snow to the state.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset, Sussex, Warren and Western Monmouth counties until 7 p.m. Saturday.

Cold and windy weather is expected to continue through the New Year's Day.
