EDISON - Humid air in southern New Jersey will begin to make its way north tonight, leading to a very rainy Tuesday for the entire state.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist Dave Curren says there's a chance of isolated thunderstorms overnight into Tuesday, but the heaviest rain will start falling at around 8 a.m. Some areas along the Jersey Shore could see some severe thunderstorms, with winds approaching 50 mph.

At least 1 inch of rain is expected throughout the state and some parts of southern New Jersey could get up to 2 inches.
