EDISON - New Jersey won't escape the snow and vicious cold temperatures headed our way on Thursday.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist Dave Curren says winter storm watches and warnings are posted and will likely be expanded through much of the state.

Curren says snow will begin falling late Thursday evening, with totals between 5-10 inches across New Jersey and slightly higher accumulations in the north and west.

Winds gusting to 40 mph will create snow drifts that will cause trouble on the roads through Friday evening, combined with bitter cold temperatures beginning Friday morning that could drop down to 5 or 10 degrees below zero in spots.
