Wayne seeks to oust JCP&L as utility provider

WAYNE - Officials in Wayne have had enough with JCP&L and are circulating an online petition to nix the utility's contract there.

JCP&L services 13 percent of Wayne, while PSE&G services the rest. Mayor Christopher Vergano would like to see PSE&G completely take over.

Since Superstorm Sandy, Vergano said most PSE&G customers had their service restored by last Tuesday, while JCP&L customers were in the dark until Saturday.

JCP&L argues that the storm knocked out nearly all of their circuits and that employees worked around the clock to restore power.
