HACKENSACK - A busy intersection in Hackensack remains closed after a water main break and gas leak.

Authorities say the break happened around 7 a.m. Monday near the corner of Essex Street and Polify Road. They say a gas line also ruptured at the location.

The water is believed to have come from a feeder line and not the primary water main. The gas leak is in the process of being repaired. Officials say there is no threat to public safety.

Officials in Hackensack could not say how long it will take to make the repairs.
