WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Washington Township police say there have been eight car break-ins in the Bergen County town in the last three weeks.

Items taken from the cars include GPS systems, MP3 players, and cash or change.

All the cars had been left unlocked.

John Calamari, a detective sergeant with the Washington Township police, says car owners should always lock their cars, but should also remain vigilant about anything that they think is suspicious.

"If they see someone walking around late at night that they don't recognize or even someone that they do recognize," Calamari says.

Police are still investigating to see if the break-ins are connected to crimes in other towns.
