WALL TOWNSHIP - Students in Wall Township will get an extended winter break due to "remaining snow conditions" at some of the schools, according to district officials.
The Wall Township Public School District says schools will remain closed today while crews work to repair two sections of the wooden truss roof system at the high school that were damaged due to snow drifts. More than two feet of snow pummeled the Monmouth County area during last week's blizzard.
The district says crews worked through the weekend to remove snow drifts from other areas of the roof to prevent further damage. Additional snow removal along walkways and driveways were still under way this morning.
"The school district is continuing snow removal today to allow the safest means of access possible given the amount of snow on district property," the district said in a news release today.
Wall Township Public Schools are expected to be open tomorrow.
