ORANGE - Volunteers in Essex County spent the day helping those in need who had to live in the bitter cold.

The organizations “First Ladies” and the “Montclair Drifters” hung almost 100 winter coats on parking meters along Main Street in Orange and East Orange. The coats were donated for the homeless to use.

“These temperatures can cause all kinds of harm with health for our young people and our adults,” says Dr. Karma B. Warren. “We want to make sure the residents of Orange are not going to have issues with the cold.”

The coats also had coffee gift cards in the pockets.

Anyone who wishes to donate a coat can drop them off at the Salvation Army in East Orange.
