NEWARK - Police have identified the two victims who were shot inside a home in Newark Saturday night.

They say 23-year-old Ashley Jones and 28-year-old Jarrell Marshall were found with fatal gunshot wounds around 9:30 p.m. Officials say there were also three children inside the home at the time of the shooting but were unharmed.

Police say minutes later, a man was injured in a shooting that involved police officers.

Prosecutors say that incident began on South Orange Avenue near Sunset and Alexander streets during a traffic stop.

Police say a man got out of a car and fired shots at police officers. They say the officers returned fire, hitting the suspect.

The suspect was taken to University Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

No arrests have been made in the double shooting. Both incidents remain under investigation and it is unknown if they are related.
