Victims identified in 2 Newark shootings

NEWARK - Authorities say they are investigating two separate shootings that happened within hours of each other in Newark this evening.

Newark Police say Allen Best, 16, and Jarid Smith, 16, were both fatally shot and three others were wounded when shots were fired near the intersection of South 12th Street and Avon Avenue.

The three who were wounded are expected to survive, according to authorities.

Police also say Rodney Shacor Kearny, 30, was killed and another person was wounded in a second shooting at the intersection of Court and Lincoln streets.
