DENVILLE - A former Morris County Clerk was killed by her husband, who later took his own life, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office and Denville police.
Investigators say that Joan Bramhall, county clerk from 1999 until 2013, was fatally shot at her home on Arden Road in Denville.
Police say her husband, John Bramhall, shot and killed himself.
Denville police officers were called to the scene Thursday morning on a report of a person found dead. When they inspected the home, they found the second person.
Joan Bramhall was also part of Gov. Chris Christie's transition team, working closely alongside the governor when he was elected.
