PARAMUS - A driver was killed in a crash Sunday on the Garden State Parkway.

Police say John Muller, of Glen Ridge, died in the single-car crash at around 11:45 a.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes at exit 165 in Paramus.

According to police, Muller was attempting to exit the parkway when his car struck a concrete island and the toll booth.  The car then flipped, landed on its roof and caught fire.

Muller was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are continuing to investigate.
