WASHINGTON - Vice President Joe Biden swore in in Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa Monday night as New Jersey's interim U.S. senator.
Chiesa temporarily fills the vacancy left behind by the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg. He has said he will not seek to hold the position for the remainder of Lautenberg's term. A special election is being held this fall for a permanent replacement.
Former executive assistant attorney John Hoffman will serve as acting attorney general in Chiesa's absence.
