Veteran embarks on cross-country journey to help others

TRENTON - Mac McQuown, a retiree of the United States Marine Corps, says he's walking across the country to raise awareness about returning veterans and to ensure that they will have help when they return home.

So far, McQuown has hit four states on his cross-country trek.

McQuown he says he's willing to walk with anti-war protesters, or anyone of any political stripe, as long as they'll help spread his message about veterans.

McQuown says his plan is to visit all the state capitals of the lower 48 states. He says he is considering trips to Alaska and Hawaii, although he says walking there may be out of the question.
