Vernon Twp. residents tired of eyesore house

VERNON TOWNSHIP - Many residents in Vernon Township say they are sick and tired of a vacant house that has been in disrepair for more than a decade.

The home at 14 Pine St. East has been getting even worse since the owner died several years ago, according to neighbors.

"It looks like it's been through a war," said Eleanor Campbell. "There are holes in the side of it. The cinder blocks are falling down. The windows are broken out."

Vernon Township General Manager Gerald Giaimis says he is aware of the problem with the home, but says that nothing can be done until foreclosure proceedings are completed.

Neighbors are hoping that something will be done sooner rather than later to either repair or tear down the dilapidated house.
