VERNON - The Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon is seeing a slump in business due to the unseasonably warm weather.
The ski slopes at Mount Creek are green, and the surrounding mountaintops sit brown against a dully-gray sky - certainly not the colors one would expect during Christmas.
News 12 spoke with management from inside an empty lodge where cleaning crews were working and season passes were getting picked up.
To cover the mountain, workers say there must be low humidity, and temperatures must be at least 32 degrees.
Last year, the temperature in Vernon on Christmas Eve was 40 degrees, which was still higher than average. Mountain Creek management says they had record attendance because of the snow that fell last January and February.
