Firefighters are working to extinguish a brush fire burning in Highland Lakes.

HIGHLAND LAKES - Firefighters have contained a brush fire burning in the Highland Lakes section of Vernon Township, but are still working to extinguish it.

The fire was first reported last night on a ridge behind the A&P store on Route 515, according to Vernon police. 

State forest fire officials say the fire grew to more than 75 acres.

Crews will work to put out the remaining flames.

Authorities say there was no danger to any homes or businesses in the area.
