ASBURY PARK - The director of the gay-rights group Garden State Equality says that this weekend’s vandalism at their Asbury Park headquarters is being investigated as a bias crime.

Surveillance video reportedly shows two young men kicking in the door of the LGBQT center around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Garden State Equality’s director Christian Fuscarino says that he was at the office when the incident took place.

“The Asbury Park Police Department has been very helpful and responsive to this situation,” he says. “They’re taking it very seriously and working with us identifying the two suspects, so we appreciate their support.”

The surveillance video is not being made public because authorities believe that one of the suspects may be under the age of 18.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office is handling the investigation.
