Utility crews restoring electricity in NJ

Utility crews continue working to restore electricity today to customers who lost power after an ice storm snapped tree limbs and brought down power lines

TRENTON - Utility crews continue working to restore electricity today to customers who lost power after an ice storm snapped tree limbs and brought down power lines in central and northern New Jersey.

About 500 homes and businesses are still without service. That's down from about 36,000 at the height of yesterday's storm.

PSE&G says it has fewer than 300 homes and businesses still without service.

Jersey Central Power and Light has restored power in central New Jersey. The utility is working to reconnect about 200 customers in northern New Jersey, mainly in Hunterdon County.

Officials say they hope to have repairs finished by the afternoon.
