WOODBRIDGE - Hundreds of members of the military will be celebrating Christmas in July thanks to special care packages.

Volunteers with the USO packed up boxes full of goodies like flip flops and beef jerky destined for troops deployed overseas.

The boxes were picked up this morning in Woodbridge.

Organizer MJ Flammer says it's a welcome distraction for the troops, especially during this time of year when insurgent activity is at its height.

In all, 1,000 care packages will be sent to Iraq and Afghanistan.
