EDISON - Patrick, the dog who captured hearts across New Jersey and around the world after he was found abused and abandoned in a Newark trash bin, visited the News 12 New Jersey studio today.

Patricia Smillie-Scavelli and Dr. Kate Palmer, of Garden State Veterinary Specialists, talked about how Patrick is doing during a taping of News 12 New Jersey's the Pet Stop.

Patrick's caretaker says he has gained weight and is healthy, but still remains a bit fearful of certain situations. "He has some scars and some hair loss, but for the most part he's just normal," Smillie-Scavelli said.

You can see more of Patrick on this week's the Pet Stop on Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m..
