ELIZABETH - The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is asking the public for help identifying the person responsible for fatally shooting a man outside an Elizabeth nightclub.
Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Parks says that early Sunday morning there was a fight outside the Allstar Nightclub on Third Street. During the fight, 28-year-old Jersey City resident Darren Scott and a second man were shot.
Scott was taken to University Hospital Medical Center, but died from his injuries. The second man is expected to survive.
Parks says that she hopes members of the public come forward to help identify the shooter. She says that there were dozens of witnesses to the crime.
“It looked like a large group was gathered outside the nightclub,” she says. “We’d really like to solve this homicide.”
A $10,000 reward is being offered by Union County Crime Stoppers.
Neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey that the club is a nuisance and that they have complained to the city about fights and trespassing around the area.
The owners of the club did not return calls made for comment.
