EDISON - Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate seat in New Jersey Steve Lonegan is suing his Democratic opponent Newark Mayor Cory Booker.

According to an email issued by Lonegan's campaign, the lawsuit is over Booker's city expense records and his failure to comply with the Open Public Records Act.

Lonegan has been demanding copies of Booker's reports for weeks, and says he has been blocked by the Booker administration.

Booker's team says the mayor has never had a city credit card and has never filed reimbursements with the city during his seven-year tenure.
