Tyler Clementi's father speaks to panel ahead of Ravi sentencing

BERGEN COUNTY - Just days ahead of the sentencing of Dharun Ravi, Tyler Clementi's father spoke during a panel discussion tonight at the Bergen County Players Theater.

Tyler Clementi committed suicide in September 2010 after his Rutgers roommate, Dharun Ravi, used a webcam to spy on him during an encounter with another male. Ravi was convicted in March of bias intimidation, invasion of privacy and other charges.

Tyler's father, Joseph Clementi, attended a production of The Laramie Project Thursday night. The play is about the murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay college student.

The Bergen County Players say they felt The Laramie Project was relevant to perform considering the magnitude of the sentencing and the case.

Ravi's sentencing is scheduled for Monday. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
