WOODBRIDGE - The Twinkie has returned to American store shelves and shoppers are scooping them up.

The popular snack cakes are back for the first time since Hostess filed for bankruptcy eight months ago.

Michael Jachowski, a manager at Shop Rite in Woodbridge, says they're flying off the shelves.

"Customers are very excited," Jachowski says. "Since the announcement of them being reintroduced, the customer anticipation has been extremely high."

Other Hostess-brand snacks such as Ding Dongs, Cup Cakes and Donettes returned to stores today as well.
