WEST ORANGE - Organizers at the Turtle Back Zoo are hoping that annual celebrations for Halloween will go off without a hitch.

More than 1,000 people came out for the Spooky Zoo event Friday night. Kids learned about some of the zoo's creepier animals and also got to play games.

Education curator Maria Durci says the weather has had an effect on Halloween festivities the last two years, but she is hopeful that won't be the case in 2013. "Last year's Halloween was a whole different matter with the hurricane," she says.

Friday night's event was so successful, the zoo is considering a second night next year due to popular demand.
